Love - Day 2

Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.  But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.  – Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things. – For our offenses are many in your sight and our sins testify against us.  Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge our iniquities; rebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our backs on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have conceived. – The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.  He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm worked salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.  (Isaiah 59:1-2, 3, 12-13, 15-16).  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  (Rom. 5:8).

1. According to the Isaiah passages, what separates us from God and keeps him from hearing us?

2. What sin in your life is the Spirit revealing to you lately?  Sit with this for a few minutes and ask the Spirit to speak into your heart and mind.

3. Will you confess it to God, and if prompted, confess it to a trusted friend?

4. Now, as you realize how much more you are forgiven, may you realize how much more deeply you are loved.
